Hi everyone- my name is Johnny Bsullak, a high school Senior, a farm kid, a varsity cross country runner, a plumbing in training in high school, a certified scuba diver, a community volunteer and right now a determined Freestyle skier aiming high for my third year of competing. Some of you have followed me, some of you don’t know me yet, I started out just three years ago joining USASA as a home-grown freestyle skier learning from others in snow parks at Lost Valley, Sunday River and decided to try completion and haven’t looked back. Last year I was able to have coaching for the first time and my skills are accelerating as well as my confidence.
JUST FOUND OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I advanced to the Future's Tour US Ski & Snowboard! This is the next level up in with competition from USASA and the next steps towards the levels that lead to the Toyota Grand Prix, X Games, and Olympics. I will attend the local competitions and try for one out west as this is unexpected news!!
My parents asked me this year what my goal for skiing was in the future, I finally admitted I wanted to see how far I could go. I started officially with a Coach two days a week last year and again this year. My training is year-round on my farm, on my trampoline, a one week summer camp, the gym routinely, and as soon as I can hit the snow I go daily. I am driven by the challenge of getting better, putting in the hours, skiing with peers, learning from those better than me, and giving my all in competitions. We are a group that cheers each other on to the next level, support each other no matter which program, background, or level you are performing in a given moment. We push each other to be better. I have been mentored in the ski park by those older and more skilled than me and in turn I have mentored up friends and younger skiers.
Qualifying for Futures this year was a little unexpected and thrilling at the same time. However, the cost is also on top of 14 other competitions already committed to in USASA to qualify for Nationals, and now 5 additional competitions two driveable and 3 requiring plane tickets, ground transport, meals and housing for California and Colorado Dates.
Any sponsorship support you can give towards my skiing I will provide business shout outs on my social media, add you to our promo shirts, send you a Post Card at the end of the season, and if you are ever in town my mom makes a mean cheesecake!
My parents have been my best support! My sister pushing hard for me to move out west after I graduate. My grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles, friends, and great aunts and uncles have been an amazing cheering squad! My community has been a tremendous support the past two years I have achieved going to Nationals. I am not in an academy for skiing. I am self-taught because I borrowed a pair of skis from my neighbors and never looked back at the snowboard! 8 pairs later I am a strong fan of On3P's for the past 2 years. They have so far held up to my harsh tricks on rails and slopes.
