FSUF 2020

Folk Shit Up 2020 is an acoustic/folk-punk festival that spans over three days, March 20-22. Last year more than 300 people from around the United States attended the two-day event. This year’s event is more substantial and features an abundance of artists and vendors from across the United States. Folk Shit Up is being compared to Moonrunners Music Festival (Chicago, IL), Muddy Roots Festival (Cookeville, TN) and Roots Under the Texas Sky (Austin, TX).   This year, the festival will feature more than 60 performances. We have outgrown our original venue on 2.5 acres since starting and will be moving to a 40-acre plot in Dripping Springs, TX. We estimate more than 500 people over three days, not including the 200+ band members that will be performing.

For the past three years, Casa De Avi has been spearheading the production of punk and folk punk shows here in San Antonio. All events have been strictly donation-based and geared toward ensuring out-of-town bands are able to play for a responsive crowd and have money to make it to their next stop. In 2018, Casa De Avi started a festival, a happy accident. In true D.I.Y. fashion, the first two years of Folk Shit Up were paid for out of the pockets of the organizers. The significant growth of the festival has made it harder to be funded by the team alone. This year is our first year asking sponsors for donations to help support the festival. Though we are appreciative of the help we have received, we are in need of additional funding to ensure the success of Folk Shit Up 2020. 

Funds raised from this Kickstarter will help curate the event at a more professional level. We will be able to meet the sanitary needs of those attending, pay overhead venue fees, provide food for the bands performing, provide adequate security, and help cover any additional logistic costs that may arise.

Folk Shit Up was created out of love for the music and the community. We want to provide a safe and adequate place capable of handling people from all over to come and see the music they love and have fun! We aren't looking for financial reward. Hell, folk-punk has never been financially rewarding. The help we receive from the community shows how much this is a labor of love. Any and all donations will be appreciated and we hope to be able to compensate through rewards listed on this page as well as the experience of Folk Shit Up 2020.  Get ready to party all you beautiful party people!
