My name is Emily, and I’m asking for help for the most important person in my life, my dad, my best friend, Eric Houston.

There are no words to fully explain how much he means to me, to my sisters, Brittany, Cyndi, and Addie, and to our grandmother, Euna. He is our rock, our safe place, and the heart of our family. Watching him suffer like this has been the most painful thing we’ve ever experienced.

For over 4 years, my dad has been unable to work due to severe health conditions, including degenerative disc disease and spinal stenosis. Even through constant pain, he never complained, he just kept going because that’s who he is.

Now, we’re facing something even more devastating, he has kidney cancer.

What makes this even harder is that he is uninsured, and the medical system has been moving so slowly. It’s already been 2 months of waiting, calls, dead ends, and uncertainty while his condition continues to get worse every single day. He needs his kidney removed as soon as possible, and we feel helpless, like time is slipping away from us.

On top of everything, he has also tested positive for an autoimmune disease, possibly lupus, but we haven’t been able to afford the proper testing or care to even confirm it. We are trying so hard to fight for him, but the financial burden is overwhelming.

My dad doesn’t deserve this. He is kind, selfless, and has always been there for others. Now he needs help, and we can’t do this alone.

We are asking from the bottom of our hearts for any support, whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this page. Every single bit of help brings us closer to getting him the care he urgently needs.

We just want more time with him. We just want him to have a fighting chance.
