Update April 4, 2021:

Last night at 11:30pm Bennett earned his wings and is in heaven with the angels looking down on us.  His two year battle with cancer is over and he is no longer in any pain. He passed away peacefully in our arms and surrounded by love.

Update February 2021:

Bennett’s MRI showed the worst thing imaginable.  The cancer has spread throughout his brain and spine. The Doctors have stopped all treatment and are keeping him comfortable with pain meds and steroids. There’s nothing else they can do. They are giving him a couple weeks.

In March of 2019 the Frunzi’s oldest son Jackson, now 6yrs old, was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia and then in May 2019 their youngest son Bennett, now 3 years old, was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma (brain tumor).  During Jackson’s treatments he developed a secondary cancer called AML Leukemia with M7 chromosome.  He’s had to have two recent bone marrow transplants.  Unfortunately, the first transplant was unsuccessful, as it is only a 50% match from his mother, because the gene is hard to find a 100% match for.  Jackson is fortunately doing well now after the second transplant from his mother but has a long road of recovery ahead of him.

Unfortunately, Bennett is currently not doing well.  He has had several brain surgeries to remove the reoccurring tumors.  The tumors have come back three times and approximately two months ago after all approved treatment had been completed, the tumor had mutated (a TP53 mutation) and is now resistant to chemotherapy and radiation treatments.  The most recent experimental treatment was not successful, and the tumors have now since spread to Bennett’s spine.  There is one more treatment that the doctors are going to try (a “Hail Mary” play) that has shown promising results in the lab and the treatment has been adjusted to give a greater chance of success in Bennett.

The Frunzi Family continues to hold onto all hope for a miracle.  This family would never ask for help and is eternally grateful for all the assistance that has been offered so far by everyone.  Unfortunately, it looks like their financial needs may continue to grow as Sgt Frunzi will most likely be taking an extended period of leave from work to help take care of his family.

The Frunzi Family asks that if for some reason you can’t donate to this GoFundMe page, please consider donating to St. Jude’s Children’s research hospital specifically for AML and Medulloblastoma TP53 SHH tumor research to help find a cure.

Thank you for your support, thoughts and prayers.
