In December 2014, I am lucky enough to be one of 12 girls from across Canada selected to travel to Medellin, Colombia to take part in a Rugby 7s tournament. A major component of this trip involves humanitarian work with local barrios (slums).
Children in these barrios live in extremely cruel conditions and have limited access to sports equipment. Sports have the unique ability to transform a community as children spend their time learning new skills as opposed to becoming involved with drugs and gangs.
As a result, I have set a goal of bringing two FULL duffle bags filled with rugby/sports equipment and clothing such as t-shirts, jerseys, shorts, cleats and balls down with me.
In this light, I am setting up this fund to raise money to buy new and used equipment such as mouthgaurds, cleats and rugby balls.
Items such as mouthgaurds and cleats are expensive to buy in Colombia but are absolutley crucial for safe play!
ALL MONEY DONATED WILL BE PUT TOWARDS BUYING EQUIPMENT SUCH AS MOUTHGUARDS FOR CHILDREN IN THESE BARRIOS!
These kids derserve the chance to play such an amazing game with the proper equipment and I would appreciate any help I can get!
Thanks so much!
