Front Lines Tutoring is currently fundraising so that we are able to cover all of the operational costs of establishing this organization. We have a few recurring expenses, this includes maintaining the website, Zoom subscriptions, and our high quality tutor platform. Additionally, we have a goal of filing as a 501(c)3 non-profit. All Front Lines Tutoring executive board members and tutors are volunteers, donating their time and support during the COVID-19 pandemic. 100% of the money raised during fundraising will go directly towards Front Lines Tutoring. Front Lines Tutoring is an organization comprised of dedicated tutors hoping to support our healthcare workers who are fighting the front lines of COVID-19 through providing free, virtual tutoring for their children. We hope to alleviate some of the stress put on medical professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in their life at home. Many healthcare workers are being pulled away from their families to help treat coronavirus patients and, consequently, are unable to invest as much time in their children’s education. With school also transferring into online platforms, children of medical professionals are left in uncharted territory that could detrimentally affect their education and academic goals. Front Lines Tutoring was developed with the goal of facilitating the academic success and educational pursuits of children whose parents and guardians are being drastically affected by COVID-19. We are here to ensure that the coronavirus pandemic does not impair these children’s ability to learn and achieve academically.
This tutoring organization was founded by a UCLA student, Mackenzie Lowenstein. When Mackenzie moved back home to DFW during the COVID-19 quarantine, she noticed the struggle the students in her local community were undergoing during their transition into online school. This got her thinking about the children of our healthcare workers, and ignited her fire to provide this very necessary tutoring resource. Several of her peers have now joined her in developing Front Lines Tutoring. Our tutoring network has now grown to include students from the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Washington, Texas Christian University, Carnegie Mellon University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Yale University and more! We aspire to help the kids of our nurses, doctors, PAs, NPs, etc. continue to achieve their academic goals while their parents are battling the coronavirus.
