From Ashes, We Rise will document his struggles along with his victories and unleash the mindset that powers him through.

About The Race Across America
The Race Across America (RAAM) is one of the most respected and longest running ultra-endurance events in the world and is considered the world's toughest bicycle race.
Starting in Oceanside, California, RAAM spans over 3,000 miles, climbs 175,000 feet, crosses 12 states, and finishes at City Dock in Annapolis, Maryland.
About Jerry Schemmel
At 61 years of age, Jerry Schemmel is a plane crash survivor, sportscaster of 30 years for the MLB and NBA, speaker, author, attorney, and 2015 Race Across America 2-man relay winner.
After experiencing hardships of his own and learning to use them as fuel, he is here to inspire you to go after your dreams...no matter what!
In just a few weeks, Jerry will attempt The Race Across America as a solo racer. This race will push Jerry to his physical and mental limits. His journey will inspire you to push through, even the toughest of circumstances, and never give up.
Meet the filmmakers:
Ashley Fordinal, Founder of Riseup Films - Ashley is a Film Director with six years of experience producing short films. After years of hardship from early in life and later experiencing breakthrough, she has the desire to build others up and help them experience the same through her films.
As a Producer, Director, and Camera Operator for From Ashes, We Rise, she will bring her expertise of building a team, maintaining an atmosphere of warmth and unity, along with her drive to make a film that will impact others.
Christopher “Andy” Michell, Founder of Falling Poster Productions - Andy is a creative storyteller with nine years of experience in independent filmmaking. After founding the online video series and sketch-comedy team, Falling Poster Productions, Andy has spent much of his time writing and directing short films in the continued pursuance of telling visual stories that touch, entertain, and inspire.
As a Producer, Screenwriter, and Cinematographer for From Ashes, We Rise, he will bring his expertise of proper story structure and understanding of character dynamics.
Steven Hernandez, Founder of Do Something Great - Steven oversees a multimedia company, Do Something Great, where he empowers the next generation through music, speaking, and video. He has worked with Grammy nominated artists and local nonprofits that are making positive changes in their communities.
As a Camera Operator for From Ashes, We Rise, Steven will bring his expertise of camera composition, storytelling, and his desire to positively impact others.
Susie Hernandez, Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) - Susie is passionate about helping her clients find their own identity and purpose. She believes that for most people, a sense of belonging is foundational to psychological well-being.
As Automobile Operator and Crew Support for From Ashes, We Rise, she will bring her expertise of the human psyche and provide support to the group, as needed.

Here is a breakdown of the budget with a 10% added buffer.
If everyone on our combined friends list (1,928 people) gave $19.34, the project would be fully funded. Every little bit helps!

$8000 Marketing and Advertising (Film festivals, theater screening, advertising, social media ads, planning & strategy)
