From Your Heart to Nates

These funds are for Nate Fox, who recently experienced an extensive open-heart surgery.

On Wednesday, April 29th, Nate was supposed to be picking up dinner and taking it to his wife Jackie for a date night together. Instead, Jackie rushed to leave work to meet Nate at the Emergency Room. After a pretty typical day, that afternoon, Nate started to experience strange and painful symptoms, like dizziness, headache and severe chest pain. HIs daughter, Grace, rushed him to the ER where they ran a multitude of tests. With all heart tests coming back normal, we are incredibly grateful that the ER Doctor caring for him was not convinced that he was in the clear. With one more test to perform, they would find out the fate of Nate’s condition. The CT scan performed revealed that Nate was suffering from an Aortic Dissection. In less than an hour, they were informed that Nate would be LifeFlighted to one of the 2 hospitals in the state that could attempt to surgically repair this life threatening problem. He was quickly prepared to take flight as he gradually kept fading more and more as his pain remained and the tear kept bleeding internally. Jackie saw him off into the helicopter that would be heading to the U of U hospital in Salt Lake City, knowing that it’s the last time she would see him indefinitely.

Nate was rushed into a 7 hour open heart surgery where they repaired the tear that stretched from his heart, up to his head and down his arm. Because of the damage from the aortic dissection, he also had to undergo a complete valve replacement. One of the biggest open heart surgeries that only two hospitals in the area will do. We praise God that Nate made it out of surgery, and the repairs were made successfully. He currently is in the Cardiac ICU unit where he is intently monitored. He is alone as no family, not even his wife, can be with him. As he slowly begins to regain some strength, he can occasionally FaceTime with his family, which is always such a joy for all of them!

The road to recovery will be long and hard. It is still uncertain as to when he will be able to be released from the hospital to come home. The family is working hard to make their house a safe and healthy place for him to come home.

Another way to help is grocery & restaurant gift cards. Because of the current virus situation as well as the seriousness of Nate’s surgery and recovery, the family needs to keep him safe and in good health once he gets home. So at this time, having visitors and guests to the home, as well as home cooked meals are not feasible. Instead, purchasing gift cards for restaurants, GrubHub, Uber Eats, Walmart, Smiths, etc. would be very helpful.

Thank you for all your support & please continue to lift up Nate and the Fox Family in your prayers!
