<div>Hi, I’m Lorne Doucette, a 70-year-old lifelong Calgarian. In October 2023, I was violently attacked in my own home. I suffered a torn shoulder, a concussion, and PTSD, and lost the small jobs I relied on to supplement my pension.

</div>
<div>Before this, I lived fully—Stampede, skiing the Rockies in beautiful Banff, working out at the gym religiously, and welcoming friends at the local gay bar/restaurant I owned downtown. I’ve always tried to live with a good heart, helping others whenever I could.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Writing has become my lifeline. After surviving Lymphoma in 2019, I began working on a book for people navigating cancer—to give honesty and hope. It’s given me purpose in these dark days.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, I face a crisis I never imagined. A recent legal issue—based on my stupidity and unfounded claims—has pushed me to the financial edge. Losing my home is now a real possibility, not just a distant worry. Even if I don’t lose it, this situation has already cost me dearly in credit, home value, and the equity I spent a lifetime building.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I’m asking for help to:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Stay housed and safe
</div>
<div>Cover medical and therapy costs
</div>
<div>Meet basic living needs
</div>
<div>Regain stability and peace of mind
</div>
<div>Goal: $20,000 – modest, just to get back to even, not to chase dreams or make life easier.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I think for anyone who knows me and followed my journey with cancer to try to explain the issue I am dealing with presently makes cancer look like a walk in the park.with cotton candy in hand. There are not enough words to tell everyone how much I appreciate the support I received at that time and knowing that there is good left in this world when nothing makes sense Lies can destroy lives and I am witnessing it . The journey has been painful but the lessons I have learned will pave the way to help other seniors like your mother, father or grandparents be better equipped to help navigate the system and not feel so helpless. I know how my family has felt through this and it has been hard on them also. On October 1, 2025 I found out about a situation that I had been put into . There were many 14 hour days, sleepless nights and trying to navigate systems that are suppose to help us out . The bright light in all of this is I have a therapist who has helped me find my authentic self. Laura has saved my life and I am still in therapy and . PTSD is real. We hear and see the things that happen to seniors on the news and never think it could happen to you. Think Again It happened to me.
</div>
<div> If anyone needs to talk, cry or needs support I am here. Life is a gift that no one has the right to steal from you. Life may be full of dark days but remember behind those clouds are blue skies. Believe. God Bless you all.
