From Syria to Cincinnati

The Osman family came to Cincinnati a little over a year ago seeking refuge from the Syrian Civil War, which has claimed the lives of nearly a half a million by some estimates. Since arriving, the Osmans have started learning English, experienced American culture, shared their own culture, and touched the lives of many. Recently, the family of seven welcomed their newest addition, a healthy baby boy.
Bassam and his family need your support to cover the expenses associated with applying for green cards and paying off the flights that brought them to America. Bassam has been working hard as a cobbler at a local shoe repair shop, but it is tough to get ahead and build a savings with the ongoing payments and upcoming expenses. Please donate to support Bassam and his family continue on the road to self-sufficiency.
Members of Cincinnati Area Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (CARV), as well as other local organizations, have been helping the Osmans settle into their new life in America. We created this fund in order to allow Bassam and his growing family the opportunity to start to build their safety net and a foundation for their new future in America. Any amount you are able to contribute will go a long way!
As green card holders, they will be one step closer to becoming American citizens. Without the burden of debt, they will be able to invest in their children's future.

My name is Suzanne Morris and I am a member of CARV. I have been helping mentor the Osmans for the past year. I will be withdrawing the funds to a personal account, and all money donated will go directly to paying off the Osmans' outstanding expenses, including the fees associated with green card applications and airfare.
