UPDATE: Well good news, Nathaniel got his Visa. Thanks to your contributions so far we were able to book Nathaniel onto a photographic course and apply for his visa. We waited anxiously for five weeks and eventually he got a 6 month visa. Now we need to raise the flight money and costs of transport and living in London.  Please continue your support
Nathaniel Sesay, aka Mash P from Sierra Leone, has the talent to become a great photographer. His images have already been exhibited in London, Manchester and Portland USA even though he has had no real training. Being able to work as a professional photographer would change his life and get him off the streets.

Mash P has lived on the streets of Freetown for 12 years. When he was nine years old he was  captured by rebels, drugged and forced to fight  in Sierra Leone's brutal conflict and he then spent five years in the jungle as a leader of the small boys unit.  After the war there was no counselling or support for 15 year old Mash and he struggled with stigmatisation and anger. You can see his story in BBC World documentary 'After the Jungle'
He started to write music to explore his experiences and he joined charity WAYout  five years ago and recorded many music tracks and videos, often about his experiences during and after the war. You can see Mash P music videos here .  Recently he recorded  a track about homelessness 'Have You Ever Thought About? ' with others with experience of homelessness from around the world.  He uses his talents to motivate and support others and raise awareness.
In 2018 he took up photography and has an amazing eye - his images were exhibited in London, Manchester and Portland, USA and this could be the talent that changes his life forever. His series of photos from the rubbish tip in Freetown are an insight into life on the dump but he also takes photos that celebrate life and show a different face to Freetown from the one the world knows of conflict, poverty and Ebola. Through Mash P's camera it is also a place of colour, vibrancy , joy and humour.  He needs professional training and could have a place at the London School of Photography if we can raise the money for fees, visa and travel costs.
