From Skateboard Ride to Ambulance Ride

Hi! I’m Lorisa, but most people call me Reese. Those who know me will remember that back in October I was skating in my work parking lot, lost my footing, and hit my head on the concrete, leaving me with a small but deep cut on my head. When it happened I was flustered, crying, and unable to make the decision about what to do with blood dripping down my forehead. My coworkers made the decision to call an ambulance to bring me to urgent care because they didn’t know what to do either.

I was able to pay for being admitted to urgent care and the stitches to close up the cut in my head, but unfortunately, the hasty decision to call an ambulance, left me with a hefty bill, one that my insurance was unable to cover fully. Additional calls to AMR helped me bring down my original bill from roughly $2,220 to $1,700.

I know my cause is not as pressing as someone who needs help paying for cancer treatment or relief after a disaster, but nonetheless, I could really used the help.

I am working full time, but if you live in the Silicon Valley or San Francisco Bay Area, you know how difficult it is to just pay the rent. Add that on top of credit card bills, car payments, and everyday necessities, I’m having trouble figuring out how I’m going to get the money to pay this extra bill.
