I was recently accepted, along with a small number of students from Princeton Theological Seminary, into a 2-week travel course in South Africa entitled "Towards Understanding Other Cultures." While attending seminary full-time for the past 2-years, I have had many wonderful experiences that have strengthened my ministry – and I am grateful.
In my last year, I look forward to this amazing opportunity and need your help to raise $3600 to cover all costs associated with the trip which include flight, room and board, meals, and access to various sites. The trip is a course that intends to explore the problem of understanding foreign cultures from the context of anthropology, sociology, history of religions and theology. It will offer theoretical, methodological and empirical insights into how we can understand other cultures. I will also have the chance to visit South Africa’s selected museums, cultural and religious sites, and attend lectures at host institutions.
My trip will take place during the first two weeks of January 2019. I will be traveling with 18 other seminarians, one doctoral student, and two professors. My hope and prayer is to gain a better understanding of various cultural dynamics through the humanizing lens of religion and theology, and its implication on all of us - our likeness, our similarities, and our differences.
Thank you for your support and prayers.
Lydia is a fellow seminarian who will also be on the trip. Can't you tell that we are excited?
