My heart aches to share the story of my beloved brother, Vaibhav. At just 33, he came to Austin, Texas, with big dreams, but on June 27, exactly nine years after he first set foot in America, his life was tragically taken. A simple gallstone surgery led to Necrotizing Acute Pancreatitis, a devastating condition that held him in its grip for four harrowing months. He fought bravely against immense pain, multiple organ failure, and infection, but ultimately, he couldn't fight anymore.
The weight of losing a child is an unbearable burden, and my parents, 65 and 70, are shattered. They dedicated every waking moment and every last penny to Vaibhav—first to support his dreams, then to stand by him through his agonizing battle. They watched him suffer, praying for a miracle that never came. Now, they are haunted, asking "why them?"
For the past eight years, my parents relied completely on Vaibhav. They just received their green cards in 2023, envisioning a secure future in America. Instead, they are now penniless and homeless, their Austin home foreclosed. They have nothing to return to in India.
My parents want nothing more than to live and work in America with self-respect, to rebuild their lives with dignity. We are reaching out for your kindness and support to give them a vital platform for the next year. This crucial period will allow them to find their footing and move forward, living the rest of their lives with hope and pride.
With heartfelt gratitude,
