Aya, a young woman from Gaza, is about to achieve something extraordinary: she has just been accepted into a university in Paris: Université Paris-Est Créteil. And she did it while living for months in a tent in Rafah.

Who is Aya?

Before October 7, 2023, Aya was a young dental intern at a medical center in Gaza. She led a normal life.

Then everything changed: her home was destroyed, and her daily life was turned upside down. Yet, she continued to care for displaced children in the camps. Against all odds, she managed to complete her dentistry degree under extremely difficult conditions.

Today, Aya is living in a tent, without electricity, without running water, in an unstable environment. And still, she has never stopped believing in a better future.

Why this fundraiser?

Aya has been accepted to a university in Paris. She’s ready to start a new chapter, continue her education and rebuild her future.

To do that, she needs support to cover several essential costs:

Who am I?

My name is Mariem, I’m a student in France and I’ve been in direct contact with Aya Samaan since 2024. I created this fundraiser to help her take this important step. The funds will first be collected in a French bank account, then transferred directly to Aya’s personal bank account in Palestine to support her relocation and studies.

If, for any reason, her departure cannot take place, the donations will be —if donors agree— transferred to Aya’s original fundraiser, which supports her and her family’s essential needs.
