<div>A few weeks ago, my life changed in a way I never expected.

<div>My name is Luke. I’m 36 years old and a dad to two incredible children, George and Olive. I was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Cancer and on 18th February 2026 I will begin an intense course of chemotherapy known as Escalated BEACOPDAC.

<div>Right now, everything feels uncertain. There are days filled with fear and worry, but alongside that is a quiet determination and a dream that’s helping me focus on the future during the hardest moments.

<div>For a long time, I’ve dreamed of sailing solo across the Atlantic Ocean in my small sail boat. Assuming I make a full recovery, my hope is to attempt this crossing in December 2026, possibly December 2027, depending on treatment and recovery times. This journey isn’t just about sailing an ocean; it’s about resilience, healing, and showing my children that even when life takes an unexpected turn, you can still move forward.

<div>I’m setting this page up now to give myself something positive to hold onto during treatment, a goal beyond hospital appointments and chemo cycles. More than anything, it’s about one day being able to show George and Olive that strength isn’t the absence of fear, but the decision to keep going anyway.

<div>Any money raised through this page will be used with that purpose at heart. A portion will be donated to Cancer Research UK, supporting vital research and helping others facing cancer now and in the future. Funds will also go to REST, a repatriation charity that is very close to my heart and provides crucial support to families during their most difficult moments. The remaining funds will go towards covering the cost of the Atlantic crossing itself, including preparing my Sigma 33 to safely cross an ocean.

<div>Sailing solo across the Atlantic will not be easy. I’ll be alone at sea for weeks, facing storms, exhaustion, isolation, and the constant reality that any problems or repairs must be handled by me. But it’s a challenge I’m committed to taking on, when my body and mind are ready.

<div>If this journey can raise money for charities that matter, give hope to others and one day allow my children to look back and feel proud, then it already means more than the miles I hope to sail.
