** 4/9/20: Emily has been greatly affected by COVID-19 & needs our help now more than ever. Update is below in between asterisks. **

Emily Kaiser was a recent NYU graduate in 2009, working for a non-profit that saves women from the sex trafficking industry and teaching/counseling incarcerated youth, when she was suddenly struck with an unknown and completely debilitating disease. She became homebound and bedridden while doctors tried to discover the cause.

Finally in 2011, Emily was diagnosed with a rare and deadly form of malaria and Lyme Disease. Emily went onto Medicaid and SSI, but it sadly does not begin to cover the costs of her medications, critical appointments, and living expenses.

Emily yearns to get her life back as she struggles daily with high fevers, incapacitating fatigue, loss of consciousness, severe nausea and other debilitating symptoms. Emily resides in St. Louis where her disabled mother also lives in a nursing home.

From Emily, "I am extraordinarily, indescribably grateful for the love, generosity, and support of those around me and only want to become well so that I may give to the world all that has been so selflessly given to me."

** Unfortunately, Emily is especially susceptible to viruses, and she has become very ill. Her doctor has told her he believes she has COVID-19. She is battling the virus by herself at home, keeping her doctor updated continuously. This is, by far, the most debilitating experience she's ever had to endure. It has meant that Emily cannot currently tutor students online for the little extra income she recently has been earning. Her financial situation is more precarious and unnerving than ever.

Emily is one of the most generous, compassionate, and inspiring young people you could ever hope to meet. She would be very grateful for your help.

Your donation will help Emily cover the costs of medications, medical supplies and basic living expenses. **
