Caring. Compassionate. Loyal. Loved by so many. A family man. Hard working. These are just some of the characteristics that come to mind when we think about this wonderful person. His name is Alex Cea. To us he's Uncle Alex.

My name is Constantine and I have been fortunate enough to be part of Alex's life through family and through work. He has shown me how to be a restaurant owner, a business man and above all to be a patient person when dealing with others...even when life throws you a curve ball.

The situation at hand is this: Alex is a Type 2 Diabetic for most of his adult life. His condition has since worsened.   About a month ago the diabetes claimed a large portion of his foot, and on Friday, September 29th 2017 his right leg below his knee had to be amiputated. During this ordeal with diabetes, he has also had to face the threat of Melanoma cancer spreading from shoulder. Alex has faced all of these physical setbacks with dignity and faith.

Alex has not been able to work for over a year thus putting extreme financial stress on his personal life. His future ability to work is in question due to his new physical disabilities.

Alex and his wife Maria now must move to a place that can accommodate his physical handicap in an area where Maria can be close to her place of employment.

We have seen Alex lose 70 pounds in months because of his condition and his financial anxieties.

The day after his amputation, Alex called us all making sure we saw the Yankee game, and wanted to know how we were doing. Telling us not to worry, that he was going to be fine.

By no means is he looking for sympathy. It is so impressive how he is handling this in stride. He would never request any assistance, but knowing his financial need at this time we know we had to act as soon as possible.

Maybe it is selfish on our part because we are depending on him to get back to feeling better. So many of us depend on his smile, positivity and strength. We are so grateful to have Alex in our lives.

Thank you so much for listening to Alex's story. #friendsofalex
