Friend/Family helping Ron and Tracy

To Ron & Tracy Friends and Family,

Ron was recently one of those people that caught the flu and managed to survive through the grace of God.

His illness started the week before Christmas 2017. Ron was admitted to the hospital the day after Christmas with flu like symptoms and in respiratory distress. Within 3 days, they moved me to ICU because he was on the highest level of oxygen they could give you and he still couldn’t catch his breath.

They diagnosed him with the flu and pneumonia in both lungs. He was on heavy antibiotics and nothing was working. His organs had started to fail and he had to be put in a coma.

He was finally diagnosed with ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome) and airlifted to a hospital by helicopter that was equipped with an ECMO machine. He spent roughly 15 days on this machine with round the clock care and Doctors trying to figure out how to get him well.

In the Meanwhile, we all, his wife, friends and family, had put him on prayer lists around the country. All praying for his recovery, because we know if anyone can, God can heal any ailment.

After 15 days the Doctors start discussing taking him off the machine as he wasn’t getting any better and to maybe start calling family to say goodbye.

The Dr prescribed steroids they gave me the treatment for people with spinal meningitis. God heard all the prayer and decided it wasn’t my time yet and I started responding and getting better.

It took another week and finally Ron was able to wake up and get taken off the ECMO machine. He was still on a ventilator so he had to go to ICU, but I was finally able open his eyes. His body was slow to recover and He ended up having a tracheotomy tube put in because of his time on the ventilator.

They also found blood clots which is a common occurrence from the ECMO machine and he had to have surgery to put in a IVC filter. His organs being slow to recover caused him to be put on dialysis to give his kidneys a chance to get well.

He had to relearn to walk again and get neuro therapy to help get his brain and body back working together. He is currently not allowed to drive as he still use a cane to walk and now have avascular necrosis in both hips from the steroid treatment that was given in the hospital.

Through the grace of God and the many prayers going up for him from family and friends, he is alive. He celebrates this every day while trying to improve his health one step at a time.

He is still not able to work and as a truck driver, if he’s not rolling, He’s not getting paid.

His family has pulled together to support him, but I know it is hard going from a 2-income family down to 1 income with just his wife working doing the best that she can.

His kids try to help and it is very much appreciated but it is not enough. I am asking for help for him and his family to help keep the roof over their heads and with medical expenses as he works hard at recuperate so he can do his best to go back to work. Any help that can be given would greatly be appreciate.
