For over 30 years, V. Lindsay SDA school, that sits on the Corner of 33rd and Garfield in Kansas City, Kansas has been Producing Strong Leaders and Educating young people to be servants in the Community and hope to a dying world.

In March 2020 when the shut down of all business took place, due to an unseen virus, and caused the world to face a Pandemic not seen in any of our life-times, V. Lindsay was hit especially hard as 70% of its finances comes from the current families and their ability to pay tuition.

Our families remained as faithful and diligent as possible, but; many of them suffered uncertain times and loss of wages. The cascading effect impacted our school’s enrollment, students, families, teachers, local employees and the school’s ability to stay financially solvent.

As if we weren’t dealing with enough, on Nov 29th our world was shaken when we discovered, that our little beacon of light, had been burglarized and we lost over 500.00 in petty cash/fundraiser monies and several I-Pad’s. We immediately went into action and changed our protocols. We took extra precautions to lock up everything and ensure we didn’t keep any cash monies in the building. We learned on Dec 23, 2020, despite our best efforts, it wasn’t enough as they returned, and this time truly made their presence known.

The thieves, in almost anger, took their vandalism and thievery to another level. In places where they couldn’t easily get into, because; of the new protocols, they took bricks and busted locks, beat in doors and did a real job on our little school. They stole televisions off walls, stole keypads to the I-Pad’s they took in the first burglary, destroyed rooms, and searched and destroyed every inch of our school.

The loss has been devastating. As we struggle to keep afloat, barely making ends meet, we don’t see a way to ever recover from all the technology losses we have experienced or the devastation or fear that this heinous act excites in the individuals that must go to the school to continue to perform daily functions.

We are reaching out to our community, asking first and foremost for prayer for our safety and protection. We have put together a giving campaign asking that people help us to replace our losses so that our teachers and students may get back to learning when school resumes in January 2021.
