Friends of Tim Flynn Fundraiser

Dear friends and family of Flynnie,

As most of you know by now Tim is about to go through a protracted process to fight off a blood disorder and bone marrow disease called Myelo-Fibrosis. Sometimes referred to as pre- leukemia it can be successfully treated with the proper care. The fight to cure this disease will be  tedious and will require several months of treatment, rest and quarantine from infections. The hospital stay will be lengthy and the recovery will keep Tim away from his work.

Tim started the first leg of his treatment the second week of September with pretty much the better part of a month at Mass General where he goes through a bone marrow transplant. Fortunately his sister Kelly is an excellent match for the transfusion and this greatly increases the success rate of the treatment. Tim and Kelly went through the Bone Marrow Transplant procedure September 19th and all went well, however, there is a long recovery road ahead.

After the first stage Tim needs to be resting at home for 4 or 5 months on a restricted diet but most importantly out of the main stream to avoid infection while the bone marrow transplant takes hold and allows him to develop healthy red blood cells. Nancy has a key role as chief nurse, Chef and disciplinarian to keep Flynnie away from his hockey bag and Red wine.

Tim is taking on this challenge like everything he does with a positive, take no prisoners attitude. He knows he has the strength, support and love from 100’s of family members and friends. Thank you all for your love, prayers, caring, and support.
