Friends of Duane Washington

Duane Washington's life was changed on July 24th when he was involved as the motorcyclist that was critically injured in the 45 car pileup on I-10.   He was riding his motorcycle home from work when it suddenly began to rain very hard.  In front of him, two trucks swerved to avoid colliding with a slow moving car, causing one of the trucks to jack knife. Duane swerved onto the side of the road to avoid a collision and crashed into a truck that had also travelled off the road way. He was thrown from his motorcycle and landed in the median. 
 
Duane was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in critical condition.  He suffered numerous injuries including a crushed pelvis and other internal injuries.  He has undergone several operations and is slowly starting to get better, however he is looking at a recovery time of 6 to 12 months. 

Duane is the father of three boys aged 19,17 and 13.  He  has been working for the software company Aderant  for the last 5 years.  He is an Army veteran who served for 8 years,  including 1 tour in Iraq.  When he is well enough to be transported, he will be transferred to the VA hospital in Gainesville, Florida to begin his long road to recovery. 

I  have started the campaign  to help Duane and his family during this difficult time .  If you know Duane, he is the last person who would ask for help for himself, but is the first that would help others.  The family asked me (Ron Egger) to set up this page and campaign for them.  However, Neibra Williams (Duane's sister) will be handling the money from this campaign account for Duane as he recovers.
