<div>Last December, I celebrated my 60th birthday, but not quite as planned.  A cancer diagnosis in September and surgery just before Christmas changed everything.

<div>As I recovered, I kept thinking about how fortunate I’d been and how I could give something back.

<div>This September, I’ll be running the Copenhagen Half Marathon in support of the SURE Appeal, led by Friends of ANCHOR. The Appeal is raising funds to create a dedicated urology unit at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, one that will allow patients to receive quicker diagnoses and more streamlined care, all in one place.

<div>Friends of ANCHOR works alongside the NHS to support cancer and haematology patients across the North-east, providing fully funded wellbeing services, investing in advanced equipment, and helping to improve diagnosis and treatment.
