Friends For Sam's Surgery
In August of this year, Sam’s life changed unexpectedly. Since the end of July, she hadn’t been feeling very well and started to feel a lot of pain shooting up and down the left side of her body and through her back. She also started feeling numbness in other parts of her body. When the pain didn’t go away, she decided to take some time off from work to seek care.
Sam’s doctors discovered that she has cervical spine disc herniation in two discs. This has resulted in excruciating pain to her. Every day getting worse, Sam is now bedridden and on August 29, her doctor explained that she needs urgent surgery. At only 35 years of age, she is now facing a battle for her life. Every day getting worse, Sam is in non-stop pain and unable to walk or move normally. She is now in line for an urgent surgery scheduled to happen on Thursday, September 6.
While Sam’s health insurance will cover some of the costs of her surgery, it will not cover the full amount or the upfront facilities costs that need to be paid ahead of time so that her urgent surgery can be performed. This is why we, her friends and family, are asking for help. We need to raise the following to help Sam get her much needed surgery:
$5,600 upfront for the surgery to be performed on September 6
$3,750 after the surgery is performed
Sam is a hard-working Central Valley girl who has touched the lives of the many friends, family members, co-workers and community members she interacts with. A graduate of Porterville High School, she chose to stay close to home to continue being a part of the community she loves. Her chosen profession is in the service industry, where she interacts with hundreds of people daily.
Everybody who knows Sam has heard her joyous laughter and experienced her beautiful personality. The world is made better thanks to those who bring their light with them wherever they go. Please help us keep Sam’s light shining. Without this urgent surgery, she risks losing her mobility and her job, and we risk not having the gift that Sam is to us all.
