Friends for Magdalene

Just one month ago, our beautiful kind hearted Kaska friend Magdalene was going about living her life - walking the good road of giving, loving, sharing and caring for others. After a short time of not feeling well she was told she had a chest infection. A few weeks later she was told she had bronchiectasis and put on antibiotics. She went to see a different Doctor and was emediately sent for a chest x-ray. Within days the shocking and frightening news that she in fact had stage four lung cancer - and it was spreading to her organs. Everyone who know's Magdalene are shaken and in a state of surreal disbelief. She was finally medivaced this past Monday to the BC Cancer Clinic to undergo tests and determine a treatement plan. She had to take leave from work and no longer has any pay cheques coming in. The bills are piling up and this is the type of stress that takes away from her focus on healing and coping. We also hope and pray that we can raise funds to assist her close friends and family with travel costs to Vancouver to support her.
This beautiful human being Magdalene is a humble talented Kaska artist, who never says a bad thing about other people. She chooses compasion over judgement, and always goes out of her way to let those around her know she cares. She was instrumental in coordinating a food bank and giving out food hampers for up to forty community members every month. Lets hope the love and giving comes back to lessen the burden she now carries. She recently found out that a new grandchild will be coming into the world, her only wishes are that the community be a healthier place and people start caring for one another.
