Friends for Lorna Hennebury

Lorna J Hennebury, well known and loved in Hull, MA was in a severe, single-car accident on January 18, 2018.  Having dropped off a friend in Hull Village after work, Lorna drove up Spring Street away from the library towards her home on Nantasket Avenue.  Her truck hit a patch of black ice, sending Lorna and her vehicle air-borne then crashing into a century old granite block wall. Air bags deployed, and her pick-up truck was totaled. The patch of black ice (perhaps formed from run-off from an uphill broken water pipe)  had been observed and brought to the attention of town officials about two days earlier allowed no stability or traction for her truck. As odd as it may sound, she was very fortunate that her truck veered left into the wall, rather than to the right, risking crashing over the low concrete seawall into Hull Bay.

In this treacherous accident, Lorna’s femur bone shattered and broke through her skin, fracturing her hip, and severely injuring both hands and her left ankle may need surgery.  She has spent the last week in the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, having her hip and femur bones repaired with a titanium device to strengthen the leg, so that she may regain her ability to one day walk again. For at least the next few weeks, she will be at Spaulding Rehabilitation in Brighton, MA.

Everyone who knows Lorna knows that she is a grown-up working-class kid, raising two sons, and very rarely missed a day of work at Stop and Shop - Cohasset, stocking shelves.  Unfortunately, Lorna has limited resources to count on, except her friends, of which she has many. Her medical and aftercare costs are already astronomical, and her future expenses are unknown. Together with her mortgage and other household expenses, it could be as staggering to her as the national debt is to our nation.

Though Lorna comes from stock that is self-reliant, this is a case in which our Community can offer hope, help, prayers and moreover, financial support.  Whatever one feels compelled to financially donate would be greatly appreciated by Lorna and her family. Any contributions will help Lorna get back to her former independent hard-working self and highlight how Hull takes care of its own.
