We are asking for urgent financial support!
I am collecting funds for a loved one who has recently been unable to work and is struggling with financial strain and housing security
Who are you helping?
- My dear friend is a person of colour and a member of the LGBTQ2S+ community. They have worked full time and overtime for years trying to support folks living in the Downtown East Side. As someone who is marginalized themself, they are a fearless advocate for others and work tirelessly against the systems and barriers that make healing feel impossible. Now that they are unable to work they are facing many of those barriers and need our help to get through it.
Why now?
- As anyone who has been through the process of EI, or other financial support, knows - these programs take time, if you even qualify. On top of that, they are often inadequate to cover costs of living such as rent, medical expenses, and student loan repayments. When these services are not enough we look to our community to hold each other up. We need your support as soon as possible to ensure housing security and uninterrupted access to services.
How can you help?
- We are all feeling the pressure of increased costs of living and inflation. I understand that you may not be able to donate funds yourself. If you are able to, please donate what you can now. If you’re not in a position to do this, please spread this message. We are asking you for help
Thank you for taking the time to read this far and consider supporting someone very much in need. The goal of $10,000 is to offer a temporary relief while longer term supports come in to place.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
Thank you and much love to you all.
