Friday Foodies has been serving meals to the homeless of Hollywood Beach for over a year and a half now. We could not have done it without the help of our family and friends. Your donations of snacks, clothes, shoes, hats, sunglasses, time (helping us serve and being a guest chef) and money to continue in this effort is so greatly appreciated.
The Foodies are ALWAYS so grateful for the warm meal and cold drinks we bring them. Many times they tell us that this is the first meal they have had in days. They get a warm healthy meal, a cold soda or water and a snack bag for the next day.
Homelessness is a growing problem in our society. So many people are just one paycheck away from ending up in a bad situation. Although serving them a warm meal does not seem like much, it means a lot to them. They are treated with respect and we listen to their stories while they sit and eat. For a little while they get to feel like someone cares and wants to help. Even if it is only in a very small way.
We love the work we do. It gives us perspective on life and hope to see that there are still good people in this world. In order to continue doing this we need your help. This money is used to make dinner for the Foodies on the weeks that we do not have any volunteer chefs and to provide snacks for the snack bags when we run out of snack donations.
