Keep Frenchy Open and Feeds The Frontline Workers

Dear friends and family of Frenchy Coffee NYC,

It isn't easy asking for a helping hand and during these difficult times we need each other's help now more than ever.

It was a chilly February day when we finally got our permits in order to open Frenchy. With my husband Aurelien baking in the kitchen and myself in the front it was made clear quickly that we needed help! We proceeded with hiring some local baristas who we’ve grown to love like family. One year after we opened Aurelien got into a terrible accident. The doctors don't really understand what may have caused a young healthy man to just suddenly become so ill. Thankfully however he woke up just in time to see his baby boy being born. Aurelien spent two months in a coma and was discharged within six months of being admitted. He has a long road ahead of him before he can return. Just before the COVID-19 pandemic started, he was receiving weekly physical therapy sessions at Mount Sinai. The hope is that he will one day be able to regain his strength and return to baking. Oh and trust me he can't wait to get back!

With Aurelien's situation still fresh in our minds we were finally starting to get back on our feet when COVID-19 shocked the economy and flipped our business upside down. On March 17th we were required to remove all of our seating and transition exclusively to pick up and delivery. We first decided to limit our operating hours however I am sad to say we had no choice but to lay off our entire staff. With no employees to help it's been rough trying to run a business alone.

At the beginning of April we came up #FrenchyFeedTheFrontlines and started collecting donations to send care packages to frontline workers. We deliver coffee boxes and fresh baked pastries to hospitals around the city. Some of the hospitals we’ve delivered these care packages include:

Mount Sinai East
Mount Sinai West
Metropolitan Hospital
Lincoln Hospital
Montefiore
Samaritan Purse Pop-up Hospital in Central park Weill Cornell

Just a few days ago we learned that although we pay taxes here in the US, due to our legal status we are ineligible for any of the small business loans currently being provided by local and federal agencies. With dwindling sales, it's become even harder to keep the business going.
We need your help because we are running out of donations and even with the small amount of foot traffic in our store, it isn't enough to keep our doors open. Rent and bills are starting to pile up and I would hate to see all of our hard work be taken away from us when the buildings management company decides to collect rent

We don’t want to give up and we won’t unless we have to. It's heartwarming to see the amount of appreciation expressed by the medical teams we’ve delivered to. We love what we are doing and we love seeing all of you everyday. By donating to #FrenchyFeedTheFrontline you can help support the heroes fighting this battle, while also supporting our small family owned business.

Thanks for your support and our hearts go out to all those on the frontlines helping to keep this country safe.

We love all of you and can't wait to see everyone back again very soon and we want everyone to stay safe during these uncertain times. <3
