Second Chance for Robert Hinds

This campaign is being set up for Robert Terez Hinds #410196

Robert  is a 36-year-old juvenile lifer who has been in prison for 18 years after he was wrongfully convicted of a crime that he did not commit. He has been fighting relentlessly over the years to prove his innocence. With the help of friends, family, an investigator, and new legal counsel he has finally obtained enough new evidence to have his case overturned and to be exonerated

After years of maintaining his innocence, specifically that he had no involvement with the crimes he was convicted of, Mr. Hinds with the assistance of supporters, discovered a miscellaneous case file maintained by the Detroit Police Department. In this case file, Mr. Hinds uncovered an overwhelming amount of evidence supporting his claims of actual innocence. The evidence uncovered in this case file was not made available to his trial attorney and is the result of prosecutorial misconduct committed by Wayne County Prosecutor Christine Kowal.

With all the new evidence that has been discovered that was withheld by Wayne county prosecutor Robert's conviction will be overturned shortly.  However, his fight for freedom continues as he is preparing to return to the community. While in prison, Robert  has taken the time to pursue every educational and personal development opportunity available to him. Upon entering the prison system, he could only read at a third grade level and was unable to even return letters of loved-ones who reached out to him. Determined to not become bitter in his situation but better, he began studying the get his GED. Completely self-taught, he passed the test on his first attempt. Since then he has completed dozen's of courses within the Michigan Department of Corrections as well as studied books on his own to help him learn discipline, critical thinking, best business practices and strategy, health and wellness, networking, community outreach, management, organizational structure, legal research and investigation and public speaking techniques. Robert is also a blogger who uses his life's story and journey to encourage other youth to make positive decisions.

Robert is a hard worker who has dreams of pursuing a college education and a career in the legal field. Upon re-entry he will have to start his life all over and rebuild from the bottom which will require financial support. His goal is to develop meaningful professional relationships that can help him continue to grow as a young man.

Your financial contribution will help give Robert, an innocent man who was wrongfully convicted and has been serving a life sentence for the last 18 years, the second chance that he deserves.
