Freely Love Outreach Mobile Mission

Freely Love Outreach is serving society’s most vulnerable community members. We are all inclusive and do not discriminate or restrict services based on age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, race, disability, habit, etc.. We believe love is the universal language and is to be freely given to every person. We strive to see a society free of homelessness and hunger.

Three years ago this October I started a charity originally named “Love In Motion”, but there were so many with the same name that this spring I renamed it to Freely Love Outreach. I focus on helping the homeless and those in jeopardy of being homeless (poor, working poor, etc.), including women, children, veterans, LGBT, mentally ill, addicts, physically ill...all those turned away by church ran missions.

Since October 2017 I have purchased, collected, organized, and distributed more than 4,000 items to the homeless and those in need. It began with collecting socks and making 70 PBJ sandwiches for each of the blessing bags. Each of the bags contained a sandwich, socks, hand warmers, and snacks. I hand made the sandwiches and purchased all the supplies needed for them on my own. I had collected some of the snacks from some donations and paid for the rest. 

I also received a very generous donation of $250 worth of winter wool socks, I was so humbled and am still. It took a lot for me to believe in my vision and mission enough to actually reach out to organizations and businesses in my area. It worked out DeMotte United Methodist Church of DeMotte Indiana really blessed so many that year! 

That first year my goal was to have enough for my family to participate in Op Safe Winter Chicago. My fiancé and our sons walked the cold streets of Chicago in January looking for the homeless to hopefully bless them with a blessing bag. We passed out all 70 bags. You can view the

Since that first winter I have been single-handily been organizing the collection of goods and using personal funds to serve the homeless of Chicago and Northwest Indiana.  As of July 2020 I have expanded to Detroit Michigan. Chicago is about 2 hours from home depending on traffic and which area I’m going to. Detroit is about 5 hours from depending on traffic and stops needed. I do this with my fiancé, my sons, and sometimes my cousin and her baby. 

I am calling what I’m doing at this stage a “Mobile Mission”, but instead of making them come to the mission the mission goes to them. I meet them exactly where they are at. This isn’t exactly the safest thing to be doing, but someone has to do it. In some places it’s the cops you have to be afraid of. Do you know in some places you can be arrested for feeding people? To those laws I say, “bring it on”.

I load up my Prius with as much as I can and head to areas of need. Believe it or not the Prius is not enough. I cannot haul enough food, clothing, necessities, and people in my vehicle to actually serve the amount of people that need to be served. The need for this mobile mission or mobile pantry (whatever you want to call it) is so great!

When I can hand premade blessing bags out the window to someone at an intersection that’s huge, but when you pull up to a neighborhood open your trunk, set out bins, hand out bags, and let people “shop” for exactly what they need is even bigger! It’s not me determining what clothes, coats, pads, tampons, shampoo, bags, food, etc., it’s them. It’s giving dignity to a less than dignifying situation. 

Detroit has over 20,000 homeless or at risk of homelessness as of today. Chicago has over 8,000. stats are inconsistent and our counts are done at the most awkward times. We do not have enough resources here so most migrate to Chicago where at least they stand a “better chance” at survival.

I have immediate goals and needs, I also have long term goals and needs. So I’m starting with the most immediate need first. I need to raise enough money to purchase a vehicle or two that is not only affordable to operate and own, but is friendly to the environment. I believe we can’t possibly love people correctly if we neglect our environment. With these vehicles I need to purchase a trailer(s) for hauling and organizing all the supplies needed to feed and clothe people. This will allow me to serve way more people than I can out of my Prius. 

After a lot of research (and personal experience with owning this make of car) I have decided that  a Tesla Model Y with a towing capacity of 3500 pounds and a 500 mile range for my first “Mobile Mission” vehicle. With this vehicle I could travel the country serving areas of high need. I can sleep in the back of the car as it charges or at campsites and drastically reduce lodging cost. It’s also cheap to “fuel”, is reliable and safe. With a towing capacity of 3500 pounds and storage capabilities a trailer would offer I'd be able to serve so many more people. I would be able to travel this country helping areas of need. 

This just the start. I would love to add more vehicles to the mobile mission overtime. If the Cyber Truck has the electric cook top and prep counter they are teasing I would add one of those so that I can prepare hot meals roadside. Eventually I’d like to add Tesla Semis as well. My overall vision is to open Homeless Rehabilitation and Prevention Living Centers where all are welcomed and serviced. 

These centers will be all inclusive and can be made out of old schools and hotels. These living centers will not only provide the safety and comfort of living inside, but access to an address, childcare, community, clothing, employment services, food, healthcare, mental health services, transitional, short term, long term/permanent housing, support groups, love, and the encouragement and support needed in order to thrive not just survive. Unlike other “shelters” these will be all inclusive and will not turn anyone away. LGBT and Alcoholic alike are welcome and loved.

I’ve recently began raising money for the mission because as a stay-at-home mom I’m using my pocket money to do this, as well as collecting items from the community. I believe that God called me at 7 to make these centers and to feed people. So your support is greatly appreciated. Since June 15, 2020 I have raised $185.
