Sunrise Sewing Services personnel believe in helping others during difficult times.
In 2018 we contributed to a cause by making and donating 500 surgical caps for kids to Golisano Children's Hospital in New York. That was possible thanks to some local people that made a donation for that purpose.
Now in 2020, Sunrise Sewing Services is providing free face masks similar to the ones requested by hospitals as back ups to actual surgical masks, knowing that these face masks do not protect people against COVID-19.

We are providing these face masks for free to any individuals who may need them, non profit organizations or hospitals in need of handmade masks for worried patients and nonclinical staff. These masks are made out of 100% cotton fabrics. Please be aware of the limits of wearing this type of face masks. They were created as a fashionable way to keep the wearer from breathing in large particles, like car exhaust, air pollution, pollen during allergy season, etc.. They also can help to avoid touching your mouth, nose or eyes, but again, they are not intended as a way to protect you from adquiring COVID-19. You must follow the guidelines given by the CDC to protect against the virus, such as stay at home, wash your hands and social distance practice.

We started this project on March 25, 2020 with a first batch of 300 masks made out of fabrics we already have in stock. Those masks were gone within a week.  During that time we make a second batch of 500 masks. This time those masks were gone within a couple of days. At this time we have more than 100 pending orders for a total of approximately 500 masks. Now that fabric face masks were recommended to wear by the authorities, we are expecting to receive orders for about 1,000 masks a week based on previous orders. Unfortunately we got out of fabric and materials. That's the reason we are doing this fundraiser as the last option we have to keep this project alive. Our first goal is to raise $1,000 that will help us to cover all of the pending orders we already have and for the next batch of 1,000 masks.

We are a family operated and owned sewing company. We are four brothers, three of us have over 20 years of experience working in the sewing industry.  All of us are volunteering our time to work on the production of masks.  During the last few weeks, business has been too low due to this COVID-19 crisis. Our clients don't have much work orders for us. Business picked up a little during the last week, so we are combining our time between our clients orders and this project.  We are working every day till late at night to be able to catch up with mask orders.

We have been receiving small donations from some people that already ordered masks. That money is helping us to cover the shipping fees and a meal sometimes. But now, we need help to be able to buy more fabrics, materials and shipping supplies. We are completely out of materials.

At this moment, we barely can afford to pay for our business expenses. So, unfortunately, we are not able to put money out of our pocket for this project's expenses. So, we really need your support!

We hope we can keep this project alive until masks are not needed anymore.

Thanks in advance!
