Freedom on Wheels for Ava & Friends

Donation protected
Ava is a determined 12 year old girl who loves life and all it has to offer. She was born with dwarfism and suffered a massive stroke at birth which resulted in damage to 75% of the left side of her brain. Because of the brain damage, Ava has physical delays and struggles with activities such as walking, running, climbing, and other activities that kids her age like to do. Despite her physical challenges, Ava is an active girl and is determined to not miss out on one classic childhood activity: riding a bike!

Ava’s wish is to get an adaptive bike-one that is customized for her unique needs and abilities. With YOUR help, Variety - the Children’s Charity of Wisconsin will fund an adaptive bike for Ava - a bike that she can get on and off of independently-which is important for someone who is a tween! The adaptive bike will allow Ava to ride and create memories with her best friend McKenzie, without the need for her parents to be by her side. An adaptive bike will do Ava a world of good physically and emotionally. It will keep her safer than a regular bike and will provide her with a fun way to exercise and build her overall strength. Best of all, Ava will get the independence that she craves!

Ava is just one Variety kid who is waiting for an adaptive bike. THERE IS A GREAT NEED for funding and WE NEED YOUR HELP to make sure other children can ride this summer. Other kids waiting for their adaptive bikes include:

*3 year old Charlee

*7 year old Camille

*11 year old Sam

*17 year old Emma

The total amount we need to fund Ava’s and her Variety friends’ bikes is approximately $5,800. Any funds raised above and beyond the $5,800 goal will fund bikes for other Variety children with physical disabilities. In addition to Ava, there are 24 more children waiting for their bikes!

Please share in the joy of getting Ava and the other kids their very first adaptive bike in time for summer! EVERY gift, big or small, is greatly appreciated. DONATE NOW!
