Jeffery Hobbs and The Slow Bone will host a free Thanksgiving meal for anyone in need. This will be the sixth year that The Slow Bone gathers an annual team of volunteers to serve: the homeless, first responders, and people throughout the community suffering from food insecurity.
At last year’s Freebird, Hobbs and his team welcomed and fed over 1000 people during the four-hour event. The remaining meals were donated to the Austin Street Shelter and The Bridge, both outreach centers for the Dallas’ homeless populations. This year Hobbs anticipates a larger turnout and welcomes anyone who is in need of some holiday cheer.
This is a free event and everyone in need is welcome to come and get a meal, no questions asked. Free Bird will take place November 28ndfrom 12 PM-4 PM at The Slow Bone.
The parking lot at Slow Bone is transformed into a flurry of children's activities while guests wait in line. There is face painting, cookie decorating, games, coloring, and we try and make sure each child has a small gift to take home.
Members of the organization Open Classical generously donate their time and talents to the event. Providing a Classical music experience as guests wait in line.
All donations to this fund will go directly to helping to off set the costs of the event including: rented tables/chairs/tents, the children's area supplies (toys, coloring books, etc.), barriers and security equipment, food costs, and general supplies.
Any donation, large or small, is greatly appreciated!
