TREVOR R. REED
Trevor was arrested in Moscow Russia in August of 2019.  He was visiting Russia for the summer to take Russian language classes for his bachelor’s degree and spend time with his long-time girlfriend, a resident of Moscow.  While attending an office party with his girlfriend he became severely intoxicated or drugged.  Later, the police were called and they took him to the police station instead of a medical facility which is the norm for intoxicated Russian citizens.  We believe this was because he was American and they knew he had money.  Trevor’s girlfriend and others were asked to follow the police care to the station.  There the police asked for a bribe and told his girlfriend to return in a few hours to pick him up.  Just prior to her return, Trevor was interrogated by the FSB about his military service.  Soon after they left, he was charged with a Level II crime of intentionally endangering the lives of the police officers who brought him to the jail.  Trevor’s bail was denied based on a false charge of improper registration.  This was appealed to the Supreme Court of Russian and determined to be a reason to deny bail.  He still wasn’t released.  The police and investigators did not allow the defense to have access to video from inside the police car or the dozens of cameras at the police station.  The Defense obtained hours of video from several cameras along the police car route that show the police lied about what happened on the drive to the station.  The videos were analyzed by Russian government experts that determined that the police car never swerved at all and also never slowed down.  When the police officers were pressed by the Defense attorneys in court, they changed their stories several times and finally said they didn’t remember.  These changing stories brought about laughter in the courtroom including the judge.  Even though there were witnesses and videos to disprove the police statements, the judge sentenced Trevor to 9 years in a prison camp.  The maximum sentence for the charge is 10 years.  This was the longest sentence on record in Russia in the last 20+ years.  Russians that have attempted to murder police officers with weapons and critically injured them received sentences less than 9 years.  In one case a Russian man was accused of the same acts that Trevor is accused of and he only paid a fine and was released.  The accusations in the case appear to keep changing.  Based on the evidence in Trevor’s favor and the lack of undisputed evidence for the government, we believe the charges have been manufactured or exaggerated for some reason.  Trevor does not remember the events of the evening, because according to expert analysis he had severe alcohol poisoning and should have been unconscious or comatose.  Please help us bring this situation to the attention of government officials and bring Trevor home.

Trevor is an Eagle Scout and a former U.S. Marine.  He served as a presidential guard during the Obama/Biden administration.

HOW YOU CAN HELP TREVOR REED
Contact your federal government representatives by phone, email, or in person.
You can help Trevor by contacting your federal representatives including the President of the United States, Senators, and Congressional members.  Those members of foreign services, intelligence, or veteran’s committees could be especially important in gaining support for him.

Ask government representatives, and the Ambassador to Russia, to speak out on Trevor’s behalf.  We believe they have a duty to acknowledge unfair treatment of Americans abroad.  Please ask for the Department of State to have books in English delivered to Trevor.  Your voices are extremely important, and your efforts greatly appreciated.

ATTENTION:
We understand everyone’s desire to help Trevor during this difficult time.  However, we request that you DO NOT CONTACT THE MEDIA regarding Trevor other than to ask them to report about him.  The most supportive and kind words can be construed in a negative manner by the media or the courts and have a negative impact on Trevor’s situation.  We cannot emphasize this point enough!  Amazingly, it appears that Trevor has received as much or more media attention in Russia as he has in the United States.  We need all of the media support we can get.  Thank you.

Help Trevor Through Donations
As of May 2021, Trevor has been incarcerated for over one year and nine months.  The Reed family continues to bear the full burden of legal expenses including – expert studies and examinations, interpreters, translation services, additional food for Trevor, and travel.  As of late May 2021, we are in the late stages of the first level of appeal at the Moscow City Court.  Following this appeal, Trevor will be sent to a penal colony.  We will then proceed to appeal to the Court of Cassation followed by the Constitutional Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.  We anticipate filing other court actions in the international courts.  Any and all sized donations are greatly appreciated.

Letters
We are able to communicate with Trevor through an electronic system for the time being.  He would love to hear what his friends have been doing while he has been locked up and how their lives are going.  You can send letters or notes to him at yahoo email addressWe will forward them to him.  Once his first level of appeal is finished, he will be sent to a prison camp and we will no longer have access to the electronic communications.  All letters will then have to be sent through the Russian postal service.  Thank you to everyone that has been sending him letters.

Thank you to everyone that has donated.  To our family friends and relatives, please stop giving!  You have already given so much.

Thank you so very much for all of your support,
The Reed Family
