Free the Girls Bra Drive
Because of some recent fluctuating weight gain, I have out grown a lot of my clothes, including most of my bras. If I'm being honest, I have had and not worn most of these bras for years, which I’m sure most women can relate. They’ve been tucked away at the bottom of my drawer when unbeknownst to me they could be serving a greater purpose. WELL, not knowing what to do with my old bras, I did some research and came across a wonderful non-profit organization, Free the Girls . Partnered with Willow International, Mission to El Salvador, and Rahab Uganda, Free the Girls takes donations of gently used bras, and gives them to sex trafficking survivors of Mozambique, Uganda, and El Salvador. These women sell the bras in the second hand market, giving them the ability to earn a safe living and gain a sense of power back after enduring a very traumatic situation. For most of us, a bra is a simple necessity, but sadly other women are not so fortunate. After finding 10 bras in my own clothing to donate, I felt it would be a great opportunity to challenge other women around me to donate as well and see how many we could give. With that being said, I have raised enough funding thusfar to hold the event on March 16, any further donations will be sent directlty to Free the Girls.
