Free summer camp in Haiti

Donation protected
As a Haitian born citizen, I feel a great amount of responsibility to create a safe space for children in Haiti because they're the most vulnerable. Creating a free summer camp for Haitian children has always been a dream  and something that's absolutely necessary  in an environment where children are easily forgotten. This project has been very close to my heart since the Earthquake in Haiti.   During the Earthquake I had the opportunity to teach dance  classes in some of the Tent Cities to many displaced children.  Movement became one of the most tangible avenues for children to express themselves.
The children were very happy to have a safe place to be, especially after experiecing such a traumatic event. It is for these reasons, I believe, that  creating a free summer  camp for two weeks will be such a beneficial gift to the children of Haiti.  This will be a Dance and Sports camp which will last for two weeks. Children will come to camp  and participate in activities from Mon-Fri from 8am -4pm.  Breakfast and lunch  will be provided for each child at no cost. Most camp staff will be hired from Haiti and a couple of volunteer staff from the U.S. will work for free.
The summer camp will take place in July 2018 in Port- au -Prince. We will accept 250  applicants from middle to high school age. Most of all, I am pushing to make this an annual event. I am also being supported by Friends of Haiti, which is an organization operating through Edge of the Woods.
I know from experience in the past the children would greatly benefit from such an amazing opportunity. I kindly ask that if you are in a position to donate, you understand how valuable this will be for all involved. Thank you so much for your support and generioty.  Our goal is to raise $12,000 by the end of May 2018 and I'm absolutely optimistic we can get there!

Again thank you to everyone for stepping up and joining our cause.
