South Bay Jail Fund

My name is Kiana Simmons and I am the president and founder of H.E.R.O. Tent. I started this organization to provide direct support to the protesters in San Jose and the larger Bay Area by providing them with the necessary supplies to protest safety. Those supplies include: water, food, face masks, first aid and health supplies, and now jail support. The goal of this Go Fund Me falls under the same and initial goal of H.E.R.O. Tent and what we stand for: to fuel and sustain human rights activism.

The timing of this is Go Fund Me campaign is significant because the San Jose PD has been monitoring and harassing individuals associated with the Black Lives Matter movement in San Jose. They have been using scare tactics such as surveillance and intimidation, and they are now going undercover and arresting individuals as they drive home.  HERO tent being the largest mutual aid program in the Bay Area has been the target for the police brutality and fascism surveillance. We are launching this Go Fund Me due to the escalation in aggression form the police departments within the larger Bay Area but specifically San Jose. We are asking for $25,000 initially since that is the bail the fascist Police Department set for our member who had been using her first amendment right of free speech. If this Go Fund Me is successful, we will be using the funds to fuel activists and protesters throughout the Bay to make sure they are able to get timely legal support. 

This does not discourage us nor our fight for social justice throughout the Bay Area. Do not let it discourage you.
