Our story is a familiar story for hundreds of thousands of young people in America; my husband is an illegal immigrant from Mexico.

Brought to America at just 5 years old he benefited from DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) introduced by President Obama back in 2012. President Obama changed our lives that faithful June day when he announced the program. For us it meant my husband could have a work visa and work legally to get a better job, and a drivers license which meant I could let him go to the grocery store without the fear of him never coming back because he might get deported. Like a majority of American citizens I had no idea how crooked the immigration laws in this country are, until they affected me personally.

We have been married now for almost 8 years. We have a 3 year old son and are the guardians of my husbands youngest sister who is just 12. My husband is an upstanding member of society. He works for the local school district as an aide helping Autistic middle schoolers. He has never broken the law, we pay our taxes and we give back to our community as much as possible. None of that matters to the United States government. In their eyes he is a person who broke the law at 5 years old, an age when most children can't even read, and he must be punished. Donald Trump is now fulfilling that punishment by ripping DACA away and putting everyone who benefited from this beautiful program up for deportation.

This is where we need your help. We are seeking a waiver asking the United States government to forgive my husbands "crime" at the ripe old age of 5. If approved he would have to return to Mexico for a week or two at most for an interview and would get to return to America with his green card. After having his green card for 3 years he could ask to become a citizen of the only country he has ever known. The total cost of this process is $8,000. My family has stepped up to help with this cost but they can't cover it all so any donation would be very much appreciated.

Please try to step into our shoes and imagine someone you love being ripped away from you and thrown into another country that is unfamiliar to them. Think of your children, if you have any, asking where their dad has gone. What would you say to them? Getting my husband a green card would change our lives immensely. The fear and anxiety we feel every single day could finally pass. Please help in any way that you can.
Thank you,
