Friends and family,
My name is Jonathan Chum and I was once a student here at Santo Baile.
2 years ago, my professors, Mayra and Yul funded free classes for over 40 kids out of their own pockets because they believed in their purpose, their mission, to give back to the community.
Right now, they are organizing a second group classes for underprivilege kids from some of the poorest barrios around Colombia for December 2017 - May 2018.
They are recruiting students and talking with parents right now.
Santo Baile teachers will be volunteering their time, to teach about 50 kids from poor barrios all over Medellin, for free with your support.
They are working with the parents for transportation to/from the studio.
This opportunity provided kids between 8 - 16 year olds an opportunity to be express themselves through dance, build self esteem, and a stronger mind.
Meanwhile, they were learning how to better leaders in their own communities.
Here's a glimpse of the new students already enrolled starting this month.
100% of the fund will cover 6 months for these extra ordinary kids to start in December 2017.
Together, this will provide
- Safe commute for the kids to the studio
- Costumes and accessories
- Free classess
The last time, many of these young kids became professional dancers, traveling the world, leaders in their own communities, and instructors.
Please feel free to look up Santo Baile Medellin to see the amazing work Mayra and Yul has provided for the last 10 years to empower boys and girls, men and women to be more confident in themselves through dance.
I implore you to help me, to help them reach this goal.
Every donation will help a kid in Colombia with an opportunity to make a change, and lead others.
Muchas gracias and thank you for any help you can!
-- Jonathan Chum
PS, several of the kids who were in the first inception of this program ended giving back, become instructors (see below) and will be volunteering teaching this year's kids for free.
