Free Caleb From ICE Detention

Donation protected
My name is Karlyn Kurichety and I am a non-profit immigration attorney at CARECEN (http://www.carecen-la.org/).  I am raising funds to help my client, Caleb, pay his $5,000 bond so that he can be released from ICE detention.

Caleb is 19 years old and he has lived in the U.S. since he was 3 when he was brought here from Mexico.  He does not have any memories of Mexico and English is his best language. As a child, he was abandoned, abused, and neglected by his parents.  As a result, he has experienced homeless since he was 11 years old.

He was detained by ICE shortly after his 18th birthday.  He has been in detention at Theo Lacy for the last year. He missed his senior year of high school and turned 19 in detention.

Caleb is a very kind, funny, and thoughtful person.  Despite all of the obstacles he has faced, he is very positive and grateful for this chance to leave detention.  He has strong bonds with his friends and younger siblings.  His friend’s U.S. citizen parents have offered to sponsor him and have him live in their home.  They want to help him finish school and develop the skills necessary to become a successful adult. This will be the first time he has ever had the opportunity to live in a stable, loving home.

If Caleb is released from detention, he would like to finish high school and go to community college.   He wants to work in construction or culinary arts after he is done with school.  His dream is to be able to help his younger siblings and one day provide them with a home where they can all live together.

After a year, we were finally able to secure a bond of $5,000 for Caleb.   I am hoping to fundraise this amount because Caleb’s sponsors do not have the financial resources to both provide for his care and pay his bond.

Please give what you can and spread the word!  Thank you for helping free Caleb!!

P.S. The image here is Caleb’s artwork.  He is a very talented artist and he made this drawing a few months ago in detention. He spends almost the entire day locked in a cell at Theo Lacy and making art helps him get through this difficult experience.
