Freddy's Battle Fund

Wilfredo Castillo, whom we call Freddy, has been in many of our lives for the past 6 years. A number of people can’t call 1100 Wilshire Condos, his place of work, home without Freddy being a part of that. It is hard to describe what an amazing person he is with words. He honestly is just one of those people you meet once and can see how caring he truly is. He never hesitates to help you out and enjoys being a part of everyone’s daily life.

As we so often hear, Freddy has been dealt the most unfair hand of being diagnosed with Cancer. It is in his stomach lining and has spread to his liver, all of which was discovered when he was admitted to the hospital for internal bleeding that had to be stopped surgically. As all of this happened very suddenly, you can imagine what uncertainties are to come: the effects of radiation and chemo (both long term and short term), the cancer itself, the complexities of our medical system, his financial situation, etc. It is our hope that we can raise enough to take a little stress off his, and his family’s, shoulders to allow them to enjoy quality time together.

Freddy is a fighter and will not allow this to consume him. After hearing this news he still manages to be in the highest of spirits and is grateful for every visit, phone call, and donation. He asks every day how everything at work is going, asks if all the residents are doing ok, and if there is anything they want his team to work on specifically so he can notify them from the hospital.
