<div>On July 9th, we experienced the unimaginable — the sudden and devastating loss of my brother, Fred Santos-Coy. Many of you knew him as Fred, Freddie, or Fredrick. Whatever name you knew him by, you knew his spirit: bold, passionate, and unforgettable. He loved Lake Tahoe deeply and lived life with intensity, humor, and heart.

<div>Known for running on “Tahoe Time,” he was often a little late — yet somehow, always showed up exactly when it mattered most. From a young age, he carved his own path, running the town like a rebel with purpose. He lived unapologetically, with energy, charm, and a spark that drew people in. He had a rare gift for making strangers laugh and friends feel like family.

<div>He looked forward to his evening strolls on the beach and after work Ice cream dates with his girls: Iliana and AveriJo.  He loved climbing trees or finding hidden spots with perfect views of the city or the lake. Being above it all, looking down into the beauty, gave him peace and a sense of freedom.

<div>Beneath all his wildness, was someone who loved and cared for others deeply.  Most of all, he was a devoted father to his daughter, AveriJo, and wanted nothing more than to give her the world.

<div>His passing leaves a hole in our lives — and especially in hers — that words can't quite reach. As we work to honor him and care for those he loved most, we’re asking for your support.

El 9 de julio, experimentamos lo inimaginable: la repentina y devastadora pérdida de mi hermano, Fred Santos-Coy. Muchos de ustedes lo conocían como Fred, Freddie o Fredrick. Cualquiera que fuera su nombre, conocían su espíritu: audaz, apasionado e inolvidable. Amaba profundamente el lago Tahoe y vivía la vida con intensidad, humor y corazón.

Conocido por su ritmo de vida al ritmo de Tahoe, a menudo llegaba un poco tarde; sin embargo, de alguna manera, siempre aparecía justo cuando más importaba. Desde joven, forjó su propio camino, dirigiendo la ciudad como un rebelde con propósito. Vivía sin complejos, con energía, encanto y una chispa que atraía a la gente. Tenía un don excepcional para hacer reír a los desconocidos y hacer que sus amigos se sintieran como familia.

Esperaba con ansias sus paseos nocturnos por la playa y sus citas para tomar helados después del trabajo con sus hijas: Iliana y AveriJo. Le encantaba trepar a los árboles o encontrar rincones escondidos con vistas perfectas de la ciudad o del lago. Estar por encima de todo, contemplando la belleza desde arriba, le daba paz y una sensación de libertad.

Debajo de toda su naturaleza salvaje, había alguien que amaba y se preocupaba profundamente por los demás. Sobre todo, era un padre devoto de su hija, AveriJo, y solo anhelaba darle el mundo.

Su fallecimiento deja un vacío en nuestras vidas, y especialmente en la de ella, indescriptible. Mientras trabajamos para honrarlo y cuidar de sus seres queridos, les pedimos su apoyo.
