Friends of Father Chris,
As you may or may not know, our dear Fr. Chris Williamson peacefully and prayerfully passed away in his home from advanced-stage liver cancer. Matushka Joan lovingly took care of him in their home in his final months.

The Williamsons have led a humble life of service to the Church, mostly assisting missions which could not afford to pay a priest’s salary, much less help him think about a retirement plan. At times Fr. Chris worked as a prison chaplain, a shelter chaplain, and a substance abuse counselor. But mostly Fr. Chris preferred a simple life, leaving him free to pray often and serve where most needed.

He’s been an assistant priest in several parishes, hearing countless confessions, offering a “soft word” of comfort and forgiveness to hundreds of people throughout 50 years of service. Everyone who knows Fr. Chris knows he’s especially got a heart for the “weak”, the homeless and the poor, regularly communicating with dozens of prisoners. Most recently Fr. Chris taught a weekly Bible class to men and women at the Loaves & Fishes food program in Atlanta.

Fr. Chris is a man who hasn’t received much of a “shout out” for his tireless work and his gifts have sometimes been overlooked. This is the shape of a Christian life.

A few of his friends are asking you to consider a gift to help now. Even modest funeral and burial arrangements can come to $12,000. We hope those who’ve been touched and helped by Fr. Chris, will make a donation here to cover the funeral expenses of our humble  servant of Christ.  If you can help, please do!  God bless you all.
