Raising money for Prosthetic Myoelectric Hand and Medical bills
In May of 2017 I became ill with Sepsis from an unknown virus. This illness caused my hands and toes to become necrotic resulting in amputations. My right hand, fingers on my left hand and all my toes had to be amputated. From June 2017 to Feb 2018 I have had 8 surgeries and I am still at risk with needing a possible left foot amputation, due to an infection in the heel of my left foot.
I have roughly $6k in unpaid medical (this is after my insurance paid and the out of pocket payments I have made).
I met with some really great people at Horizon Orthotic and Prosthetics to discuss a prosthetic hand. They have recommended a prosthetic myoelectric hand over a simple hook prosthetic since I also have finger amputations on my left hand. However, the out of pocket cost difference is $5,000.00. (i.e. $5800.00 for the hand or $800.00 for a prosthetic hook) This is the AFTER insurance pays cost.
Our family, Jim, Anna, Katie, Clinton and myself have been blessed beyond measure through this experience and we are forever grateful to every person that has helped us along this path! If you are able to donate we will be extremely grateful and if you cannot or unable I certainly understand. So many have given already!
If by some chance we exceeded our goal we are open to suggestions on where to donate excess funds.
