Frazar Flood Recovery

Donation protected

I am Frank Frazar, the father of "The Frazar Family".  Our home in Hankamer, Texas (Chambers County) was severely impacted by flooding from Hurricane Harvey.

My wife, Lisa, and I have a large family with 4 biological children, 5 adopted children, and 2 kids in care. We also help support our parents, who live in our small woodframe house rent free next door. 4 of our children are now 18+, and one has down syndrome.  The remaining 7 range from 3 years old to 17 years old.  My oldest son, Jacob, was living on the property in a RV, which is also considered totaled as was his car.

The flood impacted both homes, 4 vehicles, plus the RV.  We have flood insurance on the main home, but the deductible will be $1,250 for the building and $1,250 for the contents. It is uncertain if the flood insurance will extend to the small wood frame home on our land where my parents live, and we know it didn't cover the RV as it was uninsurable.

We had full coverage on the newest vehicle, with another $500 deductible. It is currently at the shop.  One van and one car are considered totaled, with no coverage for comprehensive due to age.  One additional van we feel can be salvaged, at a considerable unknown cost and no coverage.  My parents car had comprehensive cover, and was considered  a total loss by the insurance company.  They now have to find another vehicle.  My son's car did not have comprehensive cover, so he is in the market as well.  We are currently using the church's van, because no rentals available in the area and none will fit our needs.

We are aggressively working to demo, clean, and rebuild both homes.  We are appreciative of all the support from Hartford Steam Boiler, Old River Assembly of God AG Church in Dayton, TX, and our community.  Community Christian Church Fellowship from Oak Island also helped demo.  The work support from volunteers has been incredible and inspiring.

We need our home back in order as fast as possible.  We care for children who need a safe and secure home where we can all be together, again, as a family.  Two of those children are kids in care 4 and under, so timing is very critical.

People keep asking what is our immediate need.  We do not yet have room for additional clothes, furniture, etc.  Local charities are providing cleaning supplies, and people have supported us with tools.

Our immediate needs are funds to help us rebuild with the gaps from insurance from deductibles, etc.   We understand friends, family, and co-workers are wishing to provide us with funds to help. It was requested we set up a means to provide those funds directly to the Frazar Family.

With this in mind, I am starting a GoFundMe campain.  No pressure to anyone, but if you wish to help us on the road to recovery, please consider to provide funds to this account.

I set the initial "required goal" at the deductible level for flood insurance, but we will be blessed with whatever the LORD provides through cheerful givers.  Any blessings above the goal amount will be used to fill other gaps in insurance, the car insurance deductible, and  increased daily expenses not covered by insurance  - such as hopeful repair of a 2nd van.  As noted, we are a large family and lost older vehicles that helped to provide us with emergency vehicles that fit our large family needs.  While too old to insure all of them for full comprehensive cover, they are also very hard to replace without a severe financial impact.

Additionally, we help to support my parents, who also have lost home and vehicle.  We will be helping to get them back on their feet as well in this journey.

Currently out children are scattered among several homes, thanks to great support from our church. We all miss being together.  Logistically, it is a challenge for a family this size to find suitable housing on short notice, especially in a crisis situation like the area wide flooding from Hurricane Harvey.  We are looking at many options, but most involve a wait period that is too long to make it viable or involve signing lease agreements that also make it unviable.   We also need to help our host as much as possible, to be good guest.

The flood exposed many needs, and will be used wisely to help us on our road to recovery.  The funds will be moved to our main account on an as needed basis, tied to specific flood recovery needs.

Thank you and God Bless from the entire Frazar Ohana!
