Bless Franz's Battle against Cancer

As a mental health counselor, Franz has worked in group homes, drug rehab facilities, psychiatric hospitals and jails. She loves being a counselor and helping others. Never did she think that she would be the patient; dealing with such a serious illness at age 38. On April 28, 2013, Franz was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma). This was such a shock because she has always been in good health. There is no history of breast cancer in her family and this type of cancer is typically seen in older patients.

Franz is very blessed and grateful to be receiving treatment at M.D. Anderson in Houston, Texas. Her doctor estimates that she has probably had cancer for at least 4 years. She was seen by another doctor in 2009; and was likely misdiagnosed at that time. Luckily, she has a very slow growing/non-aggressive cancer; however, this is why she went undiagnosed for so long. She first started noticing symptoms about 6 months ago. Franz has been in treatment since May; and there is already a noticeable change......tumors have gotten much smaller after less than 2 months of treatment.

We are asking for your help of any amount, Franz is uncertain as to when she will return to work due to the nature of her illness, apointments and staying in compliance with her emergancy medicaid insurance.
