Frank's Pancreatic Cancer Journey

We have started this GFM page for my Dad, Frank "Skippy" Spillman. On November 14th he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer with Mets to the Liver & Cholangiocarcinoma. It all started when he passed out in the bathroom at work. That got the ball rolling. He had been suffering with excruciating stomach pain. He could not eat more than a bite or 2 of anything. Those who know my dad, know that he has always finished a meal. He started vomiting and could not keep anything down, including sips of liquids. He had an EGD and found that he had severe gastritis and bleeding in his stomach. Thinking that this would all eventually resolve itself, it just continued and began to worsen rapidly. He had 2 subsequent ER visits that resulted in CT scans that identified Multiple Liver Lesions, that looked as though they were secondary Cancer. At this point he was admitted, a Liver Biopsy was performed the next morning and within 24-48 hours we had a devastating diagnosis staring us in the face. This has been an enormous shock to our family. You just never think Cancer is going to effect your family so tragically.  This has been a Life Changing Event.

My parents are ALWAYS the ones coming in to rescue others in time of need. Never a question asked. Never a second thought. They just look at it as God using them as a vessel to be a blessing to everyone. They trust God's Will. They beleive that He will never leave them or forsake them. They seek Him constantly. They are now needing the blessing, the Miracle from God and any and every bit of help they can get.

He is now back in the hospital due to severe pain, nausea/vomiting and diarrhea. They have been able to keep him comfortable and are trying to stay on top of the immense pain that he is in.

We spoke to the oncologist this morning and he will be starting his first Chemo tomorrow (December 5th) while still inpatient.  He will be on Cisplatin and Gemzar. He will be on chemotherapy for at least 6 months.

He is the sole provider for the family. The finances are just not there. It's stressful, devastating, scary and overwhelming for my Mom as she takes care of him around the clock. No finances coming in & EVERYTHING GOING OUT.  It is now the 4th of the month, as embarrassing as it is for my parents to admit, there is NO MONEY. No house payment made. No MEDICAL INSURANCE paid. The medical insurance not being paid means, adiós Hospital, adiós Chemo, adiós pain meds, adiós to our life as we know it. If he can't fight it, my world as I know it is gone. If I lose my Dad, my world is never the same. The 2 things listed above (house and medical insurance) are $4,000 at the beginning of every month.

If you feel that God has lead you to this, has put an urging on your heart, to help in any way, we would be beyond grateful. I know that it is Christmas time. Everyone has money already allotted for their families. There is nothing I want for Christmas that can be purchased at any store. It's the first time I have I heard "My Grown Up Christmas List" and truly felt the meaning. All I ask is for my dad to be healed from this disease that is the most aggressive form of cancer there is. I am desperate. I am broken. And I'm asking for God to please intervene. Whatever I'm suppose to learn in this season, I promise I will. I will not turn away. I will seek Him every second of every day. Just please don't take my dad. He is a Husband, a Father and Father-in-law, a Poppy (to the sweetest little 4 year old boy you have ever seen, that would fall apart at the seams without his Pop Pop here with him), a Son-in-law, a Brother, a Uncle and a dear friend to so many in general and in the car business here in DFW (Sewell, Crest, Roger Meier Cadillac, John Eagle Lincoln Mercury & Aston Martin, EZGo Auto and so many more!) We know there are a network of friends and family that would love to bless him and my mom in any way they can. I have had Numerous calls, texts, emails and cards and hospital visits, all asking what can they do to be of help to their awesome and generous friend? So, here it is..... here is the answer. My parents are drowning financially, but will not lose heart or spirit. We are claiming a healing over my dad, in JESUS name. We covet your prayers and good thoughts and words of strength and healing over my Dad. I will be posting updates frequently and letting everyone know how he is doing. We wish you and your family a Blessed and Merry Christmas!

In His name, Frank, Sherry & KayCee Spillman ❤️

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are acheiving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
