A Playground for ALL!

We are raising money for a playground that ALL of our students can use! Our playground is covered in pea rock and has equipment that is becoming old and cannot be used by many of our older students - not to mention our students in wheelchairs or with walkers.

Thanks to so many generous donations, we have raised $5,000 outside of this page- which is why our goal has dropped from $20,000 to $15,000!  Thank you everyone!!!

Currently, our school has almost 70% of our students qualifying for free and reduced lunch.  Almost 30% of our students qualify for our English Language Learners program and even more speak another language at home.  Franklin's enrollment is over 660 students grades K-5, with an additional 200 at Montessori at Franklin school-within-a-school and 30 preschool students.  We also have over 100 staff between these 3 schools.  Needless to say, we are an active building!

The playground not only gets used throughout the school day, but also before and after school by our School Aged Childcare program.  And, with our central location, it is used almost every evening from about March through November (weather permitting!) by neighborhood families, sports groups, and students needing a place to hang out and play in the evening.

This new playground would mean the world to our students, many who bring in change because, literally, every penny counts!

Our original goal was $90,000, but thanks to the Rochester Public School district and funds already raised, we are needing only about $15,000 more.  We have set the goal on here for $20,000 to help cover fees for credit card payments and processing - and we hope to have enought money to also purchase some benches and picnic tables for the area.

The equipment is ordered and we are ready to go for install this summer....as long as we reach our goal!
