The 2nd Annual Franklin County Pride March & Rally will take place in Greenfield from 12pm-4pm on Saturday, June 23, 2018 and we need your help to make it happen!
Last year, our community showed its true colors with overwhelming support for our first-ever Franklin County Pride event. Businesses, organizations, and individuals donated their time, energy, and dollars to make this event the huge success that it was. With over 400 marchers, 600 rally attendees, and numerous local entertainers and speakers, the community demonstrated its commitment to stand up for LGBTQIA residents.
The love we experienced from this community touched us so deeply, especially since 2017 was a year that brought great fear for the safety of so many LGBTQIA lives. Sadly, more than half of LGBTQIA Americans reported experiencing violence, threats, or harassment based on their sexuality or gender identity in 2017.
Our vision is for Franklin County to be a community in which all LGBTQIA youth, adults, and families can enjoy the freedom to live safely, openly, and genuinely, free from discrimination. And we need you now more than ever to support our efforts! Show your pride, allyship, compassion and have fun with friends!
Our fundraising goal for our second year is $7,000 and we hope to raise the majority of our goal through business sponsorships. The donations that we receive through these sponsorships will cover the cost of event expenses such as sound equipment, port-a-potties, printing costs, and police detail, and a percentage will also go towards the development of our new Community Grants Program to support LGBTQIA groups and projects in Franklin County throughout the year.
Donating to Franklin County Pride is a great opportunity for you to not only support your neighbors, but to showcase your business values and demonstrate support for an inclusive community based on the principles of compassion and respect for all people. We expect up to 1,000 attendees this year to join us, and thousands more to learn about the event through our social media presence and radio and print publicity.
